SAP2000 v26.0.0 | v26.1.0 Enhancements – Date: 25-Oct-2024
SAP2000 v26.0.0 and v26.1.0 add the ability to model Sumitomo viscoelastic dampers. For design, ACI 350-20 has been implemented for concrete frames and concrete shells. When displaying frame force/moment diagrams, an option to display them with colored contours is now available. In addition, the SAP2000 API now supports .NET 8.
Below ists changes made to SAP2000 since v26.0.1, released 13-September-2024. Items marked with an asterisk (*) in the first column are more significant.
10936An enhancement has been made to steel frame design codes AISC 360-22, AISC 360-16, AISC 360-10, AISC360-05/IBC2006, and API 4F-2020 in which the program now allows the sway effective length factors (K2 factors) to be less than 1. Previously, K2 factors were not allowed to be less than one, as this is the limit for all frame structures. However, for truss chords, the K2 can be less than 1. This change can affect the axial capacity of the members. K2 affects axial capacity calculation, and K1 affects the B1 factor calculation. Also, the other affected codes are AS 4100:2020, AS 4100-1998, and NZS 3404-1997, where the factor is named ‘ke Major/Minor Sway’. The previous implementation was conservative for truss elements.
* 10832The version number has been changed to 26.1.0 for a new intermediate release
10854An incident was resolved to correct the Chinese steel frame section library which was missing fillet radius data for some sections. Section property values for some other sections were modified slightly to provide more accurate values.
10799An incident was resolved where in an uncommon situation assigned frame point loads did not show up in the database tables.
10874An incident was resolved where the table name displayed in the first row of an Excel worksheet was incorrect when the Excel worksheet was created from the interactive database.
10926An incident has been resolved for the Eurocode 2-2004 concrete frame design for crack width. Previously, an error message was incorrectly produced for the situation where axial tension demand exceeded capacity when the design iteration with a low amount of reinforcement was performed. Now, it is correctly checked after all the required design iterations are done.
10788An incident has been resolved in the Chinese 2018 steel frame design code regarding the Beta_tx parameter. Previously, this parameter was not correctly set to 0.85 for beams subjected to lateral loads along the span, which also experienced end moments and underwent double curvature bending, where end moments had the same sign but had opposing signs in the middle of the span. Instead of the value of 0.85, it was set as 1.0. All other cases remain the same as before.
10906An incident affecting the import of solid objects from DXF files containing AutoCAD polyface mesh objects was resolved. Occasionally, some polyface mesh objects with their points in an unexpected sequence were not imported. When this occurred the error was visually obvious and the results agreed with the model. A workaround consisted of importing the polyface mesh objects as shell objects and subsequently extruding them into solid objects. This incident affected all versions of SAP2000 capable of importing polyface mesh objects as solids, i.e. SAP2000 v25.3.0 and later.
10965An incident was resolved where the Norsok steel frame design could not be run when using an Ultimate level sign-in license.
10953An incident was resolved where the hinge length overwrite advanced parameter in frame hinge assignments (Assign menu > Frame > Hinges) was not applied to Idealized Flexural Hinge type auto hinges. This also affected hinge distribution types Nonlinear Beam Column, Distributed Plasticity, or Equal Spacing where the Idealized Flexural Hinge type auto hinge would use the hinge length specified in the auto hinge parameters instead of the specified hinge length or tributary length. The behavior of Idealized Flexural Hinge type auto hinges has been changed so that the hinge length or tributary length specified in the frame hinge assignment will overwrite the hinge length.
* 10856An incident was resolved where running many load cases that iterated very quickly in parallel for a long time caused (1) frequent flickering on the analysis monitor form, (2) incorrect total progress on the main form, and (3) sometimes unexpected termination of the program.
10912An incident was resolved where in some cases the temperature value on the Assign Frame Material Temperature form was being unexpectedly converted.
